So Much to See & Do in Cashiers
by Eli Ramirez
The Cashiers Area Chamber of Commerce has staked out an ambitious slate of community-boosting activities through the end of the year.
The Cashiers Area Chamber of Commerce maintains and promotes Cashiers411.com online community calendar of events happening in Cashiers, Highlands, Glenville, Sapphire, Lake Toxaway and surrounding communities throughout the year.
The website highlights business trunk shows, artist features, live music at local restaurants, community concert and performance dates, special tours, fundraising event information and more.
This time of year, area residents and visitors look forward to the Cashiers Valley Leaf Festival October 11-13, the upcoming Gobble on the Green 5k race on Thanksgiving Day, and annual Cashiers Christmas tree lighting at the Village Green on Friday, November 29, followed by the Cashiers Village Light Display featuring business light displays.
Each November, the Chamber hosts its Annual Meeting and Celebration as an opportunity to celebrate the year’s accomplishments, recognize Chamber Board of Directors, welcome new board members and thank board members retiring their position. The event is the coveted opportunity to announce the winners of the Annual Spirit of our Community Awards that recognize well-deserving individuals who dedicate their lives and talents to positively influence the Cashiers Area communities. Place a nomination for Citizen of the Year, Businessperson of the Year, Educator of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Arts & Culture Advocate of the Year, or the Evergreen Award on CashiersAreaChamber.com before Wednesday, October 23. Tickets for the Annual Meeting and Celebration will be available starting in November.
December brings the highly anticipated Cashiers Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 14, at noon with the theme, “All things Bright & Beautiful, All Creatures Great & Small”. Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust, which is celebrating its 100th property preserved, its 115th year of Plateau conservation and 15th year of Cashiers land conservation, will serve as this year’s Parade Grand Marshal. To participate or volunteer in the parade contact the Cashiers Area Chamber at (828) 743-5191 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
These annual events and more are featured on Cashiers411.com and promoted to area residents and visitors looking to enjoy what the Plateau communities have to offer. To submit an event for your business or non-profit organization, click the “Add Event” button on the website homepage.
