Raising a Vision

by Ann Self

The exciting new Village Green events center is nearly complete, needing just a little bit of a push from the community.

Construction is coming into the home stretch with The Village Green’s new events center being expected to be completed by the end of November.

In recent weeks, there has been significant progress with windows and lighting installations, external siding, and the beautiful fireplace reaching completion. Sitting at 5900 sq. feet., this facility will have a 40 ft. stage, multipurpose room, office space, and a state-of-the-art sound and lighting system.

This space will allow for additional civic, spiritual, cultural, educational activities and year-around entertainment to all residents and visitors. You can expect events ranging from but are not limited to job fairs, Friday night movies, private events like weddings, and much more. The opportunities are endless for what this new facility can offer to the Cashiers area.

The Village Green is dedicated to building on the foundation and growing the legacy of Cashiers park for the people as well as furthering its mission to preserve the wonderful quality of life and sense of community in Cashiers. However, it cannot be accomplished without the assistance of public support.

What makes The Village Green unique is that it receives no federal funding or government support; operations and improvements are funded by specially planned events, grants, and individual contributions. Currently, we are seeking to raise $900,000 towards our second capital campaign, “Raising A Vision,” to complete this project.
