New Cabins at 37 High Holly

by Luke Osteen

When you gaze upon the sprawling grape cultivars at The Vineyard at 37 High Holly, you can’t help but be entranced by the verdant rolling hills blending into a mountain backdrop. There are winding, illuminated paths through the trees. This is rustic, but there’s an underlying elegance to the landscape.

If you’re a romantic, it’s the perfect backdrop for a wedding. If you’re an event planner, it’s a getaway 1,000 miles and 100 years away from the stresses of 21st century life.

If you’re Jim and Deedee Vance, it’s an unfolding enterprise that began with the purchase of an apple orchard in Scaly Mountain that mushroomed into a thriving vineyard and a cherished event destination.

The Vineyard at 37 High Holly becomes even more inviting this month when the Vances unveil five refined cabins for rent.

In keeping with the stately ambiance of the entire estate, these are not your typical mountain cabins.

They’re 850 square feet with hardwood flooring throughout, each capable of sleeping six guests in comfort. Each boasts two king-sized bedrooms and a sleeper sofa, and a pair of bathrooms (one shower and one bathtub/shower).

The kitchenettes feature apartment-sized refrigerators with ice makers, microwaves, toasters, Kuerig Coffee Makers, black walnut countertops, open shelving, and, in a charming reference to the property’s heritage, each comes with a farmhouse sink.

The open concept living and kitchen area of the cabins (with vaulted ceilings of rough-sawn timbers sourced from the vineyard property and milled locally), invites conversation, and the charming breakfast and living areas overlook the vineyards and the curl of the Southern Blue Ridge Mountains.

In a concession to modern life, each cabin features a trio of flat screen Smart TVs, each connected to complimentary wifi. On the practical side, each is appointed with ironing board, hair dryers, soap/shampoo/conditioner, fluffy towels and crisps sheets.

Dutchman’s Designs, which though based in Highlands has become a regional style and decorating powerhouse, has decorated the cabins with carefully considered touches that reflect the natural beauty of the property.

If all of this seems too wonderful to be true, well, that’s part of the storybook ambiance of The Vineyard at 37 High Holly.

You can see beautiful images of the property and contact Event Coordinator Elizabeth Fletcher about your plans at thevineyardat37highholly.com. Or you can call and schedule a visit at (828) 482-5910. You’ll be enchanted.

The Vineyard is located 37 at High Holly
