Great Art on Screen
By Mary Adair Trumbly | Highlands PAC
Great Art on Screen, sponsored by the Highlands Performing Arts Center and The Bascom: The Center for the Visual Arts, will continue on Friday, April 5 at 5:30 P.M.
This screening will feature “Caravaggio: The Soul and The Blood.” We’ll take an immersive journey through the life, works, and struggles of the Italian master Michelangelo Merisi di Caravaggio. Roberto Longhi, a Caravaggio expert, explores in the artist’s masterpieces the echo of personal experiences and the expression of the human state, both physical and emotional. These evocative moments – thanks to the use of light and cinematic techniques – allow viewers to go deep inside the mind and soul of Caravaggio, empathizing with his impulses and fears.
The optional Dinner Discussion will be at 4118 Kitchen & Bar. Please call (828) 526-5002 to make reservations and be sure to mention Great Art on Screen.
The National Theatre of London will present “All About Eve” on Saturday, April 13 at 1:00 P.M. Starring Gillian Anderson (“X Files” “A Streetcar Named Desire”) and Lily James (“Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.”)
“All About Eve” tells the story of Margo Channing. Legend. A true star of the theater. The spotlight is hers, always has been. But now there’s Eve. Her biggest fan. Young, beautiful Eve. The golden girl, the girl next door. But you know all about Eve…don’t you?
Lifting the curtain on a world of jealousy and ambition, this new production, from one of the world’s most innovative theatre directors, Ivo van Hove (“A View from the Bridge”), asks why our fascination with celebrity, youth, and identity never seems to get old.
Tickets for both screenings are available at highlandspac.org or at the door. Highlands Performing Arts Center is located at 507 Chestnut Street.
