Dreams do Come True
by Luke Osteen
Sometimes dreams come true. For Marshall and Beth Carpenter, their dream was to own a home in the North Carolina mountains. As lifelong PGA and LPGA golf professionals from West Palm Beach, Florida, they were thrilled for their dream to become a reality when they purchased their summer home in Cashiers in 2013. When visiting a friend in the area, they found it hard to leave, as they fell in love with everything the area has to offer: hiking, golfing, fishing, shopping, dining, and especially Friday “Groovin.”
Last May, after 30-plus years as golf professionals at an exclusive private country club, they decided to transition their professional lives from South Florida and make Cashiers their permanent home. In Summer and Fall of 2018, their daughter and son each celebrated weddings in the beautiful mountains and soon after, Marshall and Beth began missing their retail business, mainly because of the relationships they had built. After much prayer, the opportunity to purchase Honeybee presented itself, and it just felt right.
As sole owners of their golf shop, they enjoyed providing specialized, high-end, yet practical inventory that always offered a “wow factor,” paired with award-winning customer service and professional insight. Their consistent business model earned them a reputation as a premier shopping destination and national award-winning recognition for excellence in retail.
With that in mind, the duo set out to offer the same experience to their customers at Honeybee Home. Together, they spent this winter sourcing both new and vintage treasures to blend value, quality, and one-of a kind finds. Their inventory includes furniture, lighting, rugs, home decor, collectibles, accessories, and gifts, including custom blended Columbian coffee and local honey. Most design preferences can be met, as you will find farmhouse, rustic, cottage, beach, antique, and transitional – truly something for everyone.
Special attention is also given to the men by offering vintage fishing and golf decor, pipes, and even “man candles” that have scents ranging from barbecue to campfire, to fresh cut grass.
They are especially excited to introduce the newly added showroom featuring mattresses and bedding.
When asked about their favorite part of owning Honeybee Home, they agree, “It’s the nice people we are meeting! It’s helping us feel connected to our new community and the wonderful residents and visitors we get to know.”
Honeybee Home is located at 404 Highway 107 South, just a half-mile from the Cashiers Crossroads. For more information, call (828) 585-4398.
