Community Holiday Programs

by Luke Osteen

A pair of local institutions are hosting Christmas programs for the entire community.

A holiday program will be presented at Albert Carlton-Cashiers Community Library on Monday, December 16, at 7:00 P.M. with local presenters delivering reflections of Christmas from around the world. There’ll be music, heartfelt memories, a healthy dose of laughter, and, afterwards, refreshments and lively conversation.

The evening is free and open to everyone.

On Thursday evening, December 12, the Highlands Cashiers Players will present their annual free Holiday Program, as they have done for the past 24 years, beginning at 7:00 P.M. at the Highlands Performing Arts Center, which co-sponsors the event.

Coordinators are Vangie Rich and Virginia Talbot. The entertainment includes actors/readers presenting short pieces and poetry of the season. An ensemble of 12 singers from the 60-voice Mountain Voices Chorus, directed by Beverly Barnett with accompaniment by Mary Pittman, will be singing several songs from their 2019 Christmas Concert in Franklin.

Readers include Jeannie Chambers, Wayne Coleman, Bud Katz, Michael Lanzilotta, Lee Lyons, Vangie Rich with Dean Zuch, Ken Sharp, and Luke Osteen.

After the program, the audience is invited to join the cast downstairs at PAC for refreshments. Make plans to attend, no tickets are needed. The program is a Christmas gift to the community from the Highlands Cashiers Players and the Performing Arts Center. For more Information, visit highlandscashiersplayers.org.
