Cashiers Cares

by Melissa Reed

The Cashiers Cares Lunch is a wonderful way to visit with neighbors, and spread good things throughout the community — at the Cashiers Community Center following the December 14 Cashiers Christmas Parade.

Christmas is nothing without tradition and Cashiers Cares is happy to invite the community to its 11th complimentary lunch following the Cashiers Christmas Parade, set for Saturday, December 14.

Join the festivities at the Community Center as we serve up hot dogs and chili with our co-sponsor Cashiers Rotary Club. Santa will be on hand for pictures (and Wish Lists). Representatives from the 10 charities supported by Cashier Cares will also be there to showcase the services their organizations provide.

A specific guide indicating how big an impact each donation can make is available to help in holiday charitable giving. For example, a $50 donation could provide a month’s worth of diabetic medicine and supplies through the Community Care Clinic, or a week’s supply of groceries for a family of four through Fishes and Loaves Food Pantry. Just $20 will provide games and crafts to Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The parade has been “snowed out” the past two years, but this hasn’t deterred the efforts of Cashiers Cares. Last year, the group distributed over $25,000 to our neighbors in need, and since its inception in 2008 has distributed over $275,000!
