Art for a Cause

by Luke Osteen

The Rotary Club of Cashiers’ Art for a Cause Art & Craft Show will be staged Labor Day Weekend on the Village Green at the Crossroads.

This marks the event’s 12th Anniversary, continuing its tradition of bringing extremely talented and skilled artisans from throughout the Southeast and beyond to raise money for the entire community.

It’s easy to be dazzled by the one-of-a-kind pieces from the Southeast’s finest painters, sculptors, jewelers, wood and metal workers, quilters, toy and instrument crafters, soap and condiment makers, and more. It’s an easy way to find gifts for family and friends, or find the right piece for the home, whether it’s here on The Plateau or far away.

As you stroll through the rows of exhibits, be sure to stop by the Rotary Club’s Refreshments Booth, where you can grab a hamburger, hot dog or veggie burger.

The show runs from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. daily on Saturday, August 31, and Sunday, September 1, rain or shine. While admission is free, a suggested donation of $3 to $5 is appreciated. Proceeds from the show go to benefit the many local charities, non-profit organizations, community projects, and scholarship recipients supported by the club.

To date, the club has raised and distributed more than $1 million to those doing good work in the community. Meals on Wheels, the Boys & Girls Club of WNC, Fishes & Loaves Food Pantry, the Blue Ridge Free Dental Clinic, Rise Against Hunger, the Vecinos Farmworker Health Program, and the CART (Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust) Fund are just a few of the community efforts Cashiers Rotary supports.

Join Cashiers Rotary for a celebratory weekend of fine arts, local crafts, family fun, stunning scenery, and good old-fashioned philanthropy.
