A Lonesome Valley wedding

Rachel Kepes and Leland Ferriter were married on a perfect fall day in October of 2018.

With the help of Verge Events and Nicole Riley, the couple, from Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina, brought 120 of their nearest and dearest to Cashiers and Lonesome Valley to celebrate their union. After speaking to a few of their vendors, it was very clear there was one very big and important item they wanted to celebrate (apart from their love, of course) and that was the food.

Their sumptuous menu was a celebration of the local with very bold inclusions of the far-off. Canyon Kitchen’s Chef Naron and his team included passed hors d’oeuvres of Warm Brie and Peach Chutney Sammies and Collard Green Kimchee Arancini with a Fermented Chili Aioli, as well as Seared Golden Tile in a Massaman-Coconut Milk Curry with Root Vegetables and Thai Basil.

Famed local beef purveyor Brasstown Beef was also on show with a beautiful Beef Tenderloin paired with Wilted Chard and Cauliflower “Grits.”

Later in the night, as guests were dancing away to the smooth tunes of Mad Sci DJ, there was one more culinary treat to be enjoyed, Canyon Kitchen Pizza Bites.

The newlyweds would both agree – the only thing missing were the Bride’s beloved horses who stayed at home in SC. But don’t worry – the Bride did a separate photo shoot in full wedding garb with just them when the newlyweds got home.
